Hi Everyone,

After a hiatus, I'd like to get back to blogging full time, if not more then at least one post a week.

Let me start by sharing something I made very recently.

I am a big fan of challenges. It gives me tons of ideas that help me work with various products I own. I recently participated in (as I regularly do) the Simon Says Stamp's Flickr challenge. They run a fortnightly challenge with a new theme each time.

This past challenge was 'Anything Goes'. I absolutely loved one, since it lets me try absolutely any product as long as one of them is from SSS.

Here's what I made. And let me warn you, I went berserk and created not one, not 2 but 6 cards. This was also to mostly replenish my stock of cards. I will list all sets and products used for the cards listed below each photo in each post.

For this card:
  • I started with heat embossing the balloons on watercolour paper in silver.
  • Next I coloured the balloons using wet on wet technique (this helps the colour spread easily).
  • I then coloured the outer area with a pale wash of grey. You can use blue or brown as well for this.
  • The next step was for the panel to dry before it could be die cut to make it look neater than it would have.
  • I stamped the sentiment on a vellum panel, also from the set and adhered it on the front. The last thing I did was drop some splatters on the panel using the 3 colours and silver paint from my new favourite set - Starry Colours from gansai tambi before embellishing the front with some sequins.
  • The front panel was then laid on silver glimmer sheet and then finally on an A2 card base.
Something like this wouldn't take more than an hour, trust me!

Stamp Set: SSS Birthday Bits || Dies: SSS Stitched Rectangle dies || Distress inks: Peacock feathers, fossilised amber and festive berries (these are available in various places within India) || Watercolour paper: Brustro 300 GSM
Kuretake Gansai Tambi starry colours used for silver splatters on the card ||
Embossing Powder: Ranger silver embossing powder (also available at various stores in India) ||
All card stock and embellishments were procured from various local stores.
